Amazon Prime Instant Video Now on Android, But There’s a Catch


Amazon is finally bringing its Instant Video service, which has been available on iOS and Kindle Fire devices for a long time, to Android, the company announced Tuesday

However, there are a few limitations.

The app won’t be in the usual Google Play store. Instead, Android users will first need to download and install the most recent Amazon app. From there, users will be able to install the Prime Instant Video app.

The service on Android is only available to Amazon Prime members, so users will only be able to stream the subset of titles made available to stream on Prime for free (which number in the tens of thousands, Amazon says). The app won’t have the full selection of Amazon titles, including several offered à la carte, that come with the full Amazon Instant Video service. Read more…
