U.S. President Barack Obama is ready to go on the offense against the Islamic State.
During an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press that aired Sunday, Obama said the United States’ focus “over the last several months” had been to shift around reconnaissance resources, then use air strikes and other means to protect American personnel from the Islamic State (formerly known as ISIS/ISIL), and allow for more humanitarian assistance
“The next phase is now to start going on some offense,” he said in the interview
