Ukraine’s President: ‘Russian Forces Have Entered Ukraine’


NOVOAZOVSK, Ukraine — “Russian forces have entered Ukraine,” President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday

Poroshenko canceled a trip and called an emergency meeting as concerns grew about the opening of a new front in the conflict. He summoned the nation’s security council as the strategic southeastern Ukraine town of Novoazovsk appeared firmly under the control of Russia-backed separatists.

“Today the president’s place is in Kiev,” Poroshenko said.
